Sunshine Award Number 2

SunshineI’ve neglected both writing and reading others’ blogs for a few weeks now due to…well…galavanting with overseas guests (ah, but it was wonderful). So what a super surprise to read Film and TV 101’s Sunshine Award post and see my blog listed in her “nominees” section. This is just what I needed to get back into some sort of normality after an awesome but hectically busy holiday. Thank you Film and TV 101.

Here are the questions I received:

Movie Reviews 101
And my questions for you are:
Who would play you in a movie of your life? Téa Leoni as she looked in Bad Boys purely because (and I hate when people say they look like some celebrity and I don’t want to sound all stuck-up) someone commented that I looked very similar to her when the movie came out. I wish I did.

What is your favourite sport? (to watch or play) Cycling both watching and doing, although I’ve neglected doing it purely due to time constraints. Love watching those long lines of racing peletons – they look so elegant. And watching the Tour de France on TV just adds that extra something with all the places of interest dotted along.

What is your favourite movie genre? I don’t have a favourite, however, Westerns and Drama are the dominant ones in my movie collection…by far.

If blogging wasn’t a thing, what would you do instead? Read more, watch more movies, which I do anyway 😉 But if I wasn’t blogging, I’d have a little more time. Oh, and I’d have time to paint which I’ve neglected since I’ve been blogging.

What are your Halloween film essentials? None really – I’m too scared to watch horror movies and don’t really watch anything Halloween specific.

If you were trapped on a desert island, which three celebrities would you most like to be stuck there with? Aw, man, these questions always throw me…don’t want to seem shallow…hmmm…let me think about this one a bit. Sigh…this is so hard. Ok, just for the fun: Daniel Craig so he could walk out the ocean the same way he did in Casino Royale, Josh Lucas so I could kiss him anytime I want to as per Sweet Home Alabama and Jean-Marc Barr for long dives in the ocean like he does in Le Grand Bleu. I could always swap one of them out for Tom Hopper for protection like he proves he can in Northmen: A Viking Saga. I’m sorry but I just couldn’t think of a female character beach-related (that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it)

Scorsese has DiCaprio, Tarantino has Jackson – which actor would you team up with if you were a director? Hmmm…so many brilliant actors…I’d team up with Daniel Day-Lewis but he doesn’t seem the “type” to team up in this way. Maybe Kate Beckinsale for a female duo? Not sure really…

What’s the best holiday you’ve ever been on? Ah, this is a tough one. I love Switzerland (when I can afford it), Thailand is just special, the Kruger National Park (South Africa) is always wonderful, New York has an amazing energy. So, can’t pinpoint a best…many have been equally memorable.

What type of music do you like? I like a variety – it is more about a particular piece for me, rather than a type. It just has to “speak to me” regardless of genre or type. Although, great big epic film music is fantastic!

What is your favourite movie soundtrack? Ah, no need to even think about this one – The Last of the Mohicans soundtrack. All-time favourite movie, all-time favourite soundtrack.

What will you do if Donald Trump becomes president? Nothing. Firstly, I don’t live in the country and secondly, there isn’t really much one can do but carry on with life.

Now my turn:

The rules for this award are

  1. Thankyou my friend! Wow, you’ve travelled a lot, I’d love to go to NYC.

Le Grand Bleu – great movie. Need to watch it again. Also, we’re in agreement that the Western is a great genre 🙂 what’s your favourite?

I’ll answer your questions here as I too am a bit behind on blogging and have a lot of posts to catch up on!

What time of the year is “sunniest” (most pleasant) to you?
I’d have to say Summer. I just like it when it’s nice and warm and the night times are light.

What is the most “out of character” thing you’ve ever done?
I once did karaoke dressed as Avril Lavigne because I lost a bet. Not like me at all to do that!

When a movie is based on a book do you read the book before watching the movie?
Not really, I’m not a huge fan of fiction books 😦 I like true crime books and other nerdy stuff

Is there any movie re-make that you feel is better than the “original”?
I don’t think there is. ‘Cruel Intentions’, if you could class it as a remake, is really good. But then again, so is the ‘original’, ‘Dangerous Liaisons’. They’re both very different movies.

Which character (book or movie) is the most inspiring?
Great question! I think Ripley from the Alien movies is inspiring to be one hell of a strong woman.

Which actor/actress always brings sunshine/brightens the screen with their roles?
    Robin Williams

    Abstract Art or Realistic Art?
Both of those kinds of art are interesting! Sometimes abstract art can be very pretentious, but sometimes it’s extremely beautiful. Realistic art is always amazing I think.

When you read, is it Fact or Fiction?
Oh! I answered that above – I must be telepathic

Just because I like asking this: what is your favourite movie of all time?
‘Closer’ always comes to my mind.

And, because this is a Sunshine Award, what book or movie lifts you up when you need a bit of sunshine in your day?
‘Grease’ is a great one. And also ‘Mrs Doubtfire’.

And one more…what brings the biggest ray of sun to your day?
Seeing my doggy after a long day at work!

    Thanks again buddy 🙂

    1. Thanks so much for your wonderful answers and a little insight into you. I’m impressed – Karaoke – that takes courage. My favourite Western…hmmm…there are so many wonderful ones – Slow West, The Magnificent Seven (1960), Open Range, Once Upon a Time in the West, Yellow Sky…I can’t pinpoint one. Isn’t it just wonderful that welcome we get from our four legged friends? They never fail to put a smile on my face no matter how long a day it has been. What dog do you have? I have a rescue Scottie and a rescue Mini Schnauzer.

  2. Thank you for nominating me for this award and your positive comments regarding my blog. They genuinely touched my heart.

What time of the year is “sunniest” (most pleasant) to you? Summer, I love it when it’s hot.
What is the most “out of character” thing you’ve ever done? Not sure as I’m an offbeat guy.
When a movie is based on a book do you read the book before watching the movie? Most of the time yes.
Is there any movie re-make that you feel is better than the “original”? None particularly spring to mind as a lot of remakes are train wrecks.
Which character (book or movie) is the most inspiring? Stand By Me, it shows the power of friendship so well.
Which actor/actress always brings sunshine/brightens the screen with their roles? Amy Adams brightens up my days.
Abstract Art or Realistic Art? I like the two, though abstract sounds like more my thing.
When you read, is it Fact or Fiction? Most of the time fiction.
Just because I like asking this: what is your favourite movie of all time? The Godfather, hands down.
And, because this is a Sunshine Award, what book or movie lifts you up when you need a bit of sunshine in your day? Chicken Run always gives me a smile.
And one more…what brings the biggest ray of sun to your day? My supportive family and the thrill of blogging.

              1. Well at home, I can be something of a nudist but outside usually I’m covered up. A friend asked me and I decided to do it. Was quite liberating actually. The people drawing seemed to like it.

                1. I’ve always wondered how it feels for the person posing – do you actually “switch off” totally while posing and become oblivious to those around you or are you aware of being naked all the time? Does it start off awkward and then gradually you feel confident and liberating?

Thoughts anyone?
