My Movie Alphabet Vol 2 Blogathon

The universe works in weird ways…just the other morning I happened to think that I’ve never listed my favourites before…and voila that same afternoon Often Off Topic listed her entry for a favourites Blogathon hosted by superhero Mettel Ray. As most of you know by now, I should probably see someone about my Blogathon addiction (anyone know someone specialising in Movie Blogathon Addictions???) and naturally, despite being snowed under with other Blogathon entries and a thing called Work, I just had to take part. So, here’s a list of my favourite actors, actresses and movies.

(Thank goodness 2 entries (but different categories) per letter are allowed (it’s Vol 2) as long as it isn’t two of the same “category” – I’m taking the liberty of classifying actors and actresses as different categories. Bring on volume 10 where I have less trouble narrowing it down 😀 )

Adore

——-

Big Jake, Bridges Jeff & Beckinsale, Kate

——-
C…C…who would have thought I’d struggle to decide on only one C entry…I have a number of favourites here…oh well…here you go:
Catch and Release

——-

Day-Lewis, Daniel
without a moment of doubt.

——-

E…what??? I have no E entries…wait…surely there has to be something…ah…how could I forget…E for
Eric Schweig
a totally underrated actor…oh drat, that should go under S…oh well…we’ll leave it here for now (I suspect I’ll have plenty S entries).

——-

Finstere Tal, Das

——-

Gyllenhaal, Jake & Garner, Jennifer

——-

H…oh can’t we just say it is Volume 20…or even 12 will do…, oh so many to choose. This is harder than I thought but here:

Last of the Mohicans, The

——-

Magnificent Seven, The (1960)

——-

Northmen: A Viking Saga

——-

——-

Peck, Gregory & Plunkett & Macleane

——-

Quick and the Dead, The (1995)

——-

Christian Slater just has to be on this list because he was my favourite as a teenager. I can’t just drop him because I’m all grown up 😉

——-

Town, The

——-

Unfinished Life, An & Urban, Karl

——-

Vera Cruz

——-

Wayne, John & Was Tun Wenn’s Brennt

X…the notorious X…I’m sorry….I have no favourite actor, actress or movie here…not even a movie I like…sorry 😦 Although, come to think of it here’s an actor who is pretty good:
Xavier Samuel

——-

Another one that doesn’t need much thinking:
Yellow Sky

——-

Zerbe, Anthony & Zellweger, Renee

    1. Thanks Paul. You know you’re to blame for Plunkett 😉 Hee hee…I’m teasing, you know that, right? Seriously, I’m so glad you sent Plunkett my way…
Hope you’re going to share your thoughts with me…I’m curious now…

      1. I don’t like to hijack your comments, so feel free to delete this. Off the top of my head I came up with:
American Graffiti- Where were you in ’62?
Big Wednesday- Surfing, nostalgia, pure Americana.
Cool Hand Luke- “Nobody can eat 50 eggs!”
Days of Heaven- Malick at his most beautiful.
Electra Glide in Blue- The cops response to Easy Rider.
Flesh and Bone- Meg Ryan, West Texas, 1993…haunting!
Get Carter- Michael Caine at his most menacing, dispensing hard justice to Newcastle villains.
Hatari!- My favourite lazy Sunday film.
Island in the Sky- The Duke again, he actually cries in this one!
Junior Bonner- More nostalgia. Bull riding, brawls and family values.
Kiss Me Deadly- Classic hard-boiled film noir.
Lancaster, Burt- For The Professionals and Sweet Smell of Success.
Mr. Majestyk- The local Mafia try to bully Charles Bronson’s melon farmer. Good luck with that!
Nicholson, Jack- For Chinatown, Easy Rider and Wolf.
Out for Justice- Segal at his best!
Point Blank- Lee Marvin at his most intense.
Quaid, Dennis- For D.O.A. Flesh and Bone and Innerspace.
Rififi-The greatest heist film of all time. Often imitated, never bettered.
Smokey and the Bandit- Burt, Jerry Reed and Sally Field, Eastbound and Down!
Two-Lane Blacktop- The king of road movies.
Ulzana’s Raid- Burt Lancaster, back on plains with the Apache.
Vanishing Point- The crown prince of road movies.
Wake in Fright-The Australian Outback is the backdrop of an educated man’s descent into depravity.
Xander Berkely- If only for his sleazy cameo in The Fabulous Baker Boys.
You’ve Got Mail- The finest crafted rom-com of the 1990s.
Zulu- The big screen début of a certain Maurice Micklewhite. Whatever became of him?

        1. This is fantastic! Thanks so much. Smokey and the Bandit…gosh, it’s been years since I watched that. And Junior Bonner. And Fabulous Baker Boys. And Cool Hand Luke. And You’ve Got Mail…and….and…and…I have some “rewatching” to do and quite a bit of “new watching” – Rififi sounds great (just looked it up) and I’ve been meaning to watch Mr. Majestyk for ages.
Fantastic list. And P.S. comments always welcome – please don’t worry about “hi-jacking” them. Have a lovely evening!
